It was dusk and nobody was there. It made me feel a little lonely.  I alone am going east looking west and going west looking east, heading nowhere seeking no one and searching for nothing.

Walking until I notice the space of the world between ”this side ” and ”the other side”.

Through photography, perhaps I scoop and collect my floating self and make a connection between ”this side” and ”the other side”.

Masako was born in Tokyo, Japan, interested in different cultures since junior high school. She became interested in photography as the way of expression while visiting various countries. Studied photography in NY, Canada and Japan between 2001 and 2010, and have exhibited works in several solo and group exhibitions in Canada and Japan. Currently living and working as an artist in Tokyo.

“Ordinary Household” is a project dedicated to the domestic approach which is somehow almost absent in Taiwanese photography.

Artist seeks for volunteers, goes to their houses, askes for their ideas about the most “often”, “want” and “unforgettable” things to do in their houses, and take pictures. In other words, sitters are “acting” themselves in their most familiar and comfortable environment.

Chen Chin-Pao, Taiwan Artist, who taught in an elementary school for a decade (while completing a BFA from SVA, New York) and his artworks projects including Circumgyration, Heaven on Earth series as well as Betel Nut Girls. The project of “Circumgyration” and “Heaven on Earth” awarded HIGASHIKAWA Award, Hokkaido Japan in 2011.

Color Endowment】is part of the six laws of Chinese painting “Categorical Color Endowment”, introduced by Scholar Shieh-Huh during the Southern Chi Dynasty. It is to portray a variety of content by embracing them with colors.

Peony】 represents wealth and elegance in Chinese culture; affluent families often would hang Chinese representational paintings of peonies in the hall to depict its well means of prosperity. Artist – Chung Ping CHENG chose to utilize peonies to express her affection and interest toward colored photography by fashioning traditional film to capture peonies’ unlimited exquisite and poise postures, where photos were developed and enlarged in a darkroom.
