Hiroshi Ikeda: Glacier and Iceberg in Antarctica (1967-2018)

1839 Contemporary Gallery is honored to announce “Glacier and Iceberg in Antarctica” a solo exhibition featuring work by Hiroshi Ikeda, on view from October 20 to November 18, 2018. In his first exhibition with the gallery, Hiroshi will present photographs from his five decades of exploring Antarctica.

The 84-year-old Japanese photographer Ikeda Hiroshi is known as Mr. Antarctica. He has fallen in love with the pure white beauty of Antarctica. In the past 52 years since 1967 till today, he has visited Antarctica 24 times. Through the lens and text, Ikeda reminds everyone to cherish the most precious pure land on earth. There are over 30 prints show the rarely life stories in Antarctica. Welcome to join us for the Opening Reception and artist talk starting 14:30 on Saturday, October 20, at 1839 Contemporary Gallery.
