Born in Taipei, Taiwan, Chung Ping CHENG graduated from the History Department of Taiwan University and has been a Chinese-American female artist who has lived in the United States for many years. Whether in black and white or in color she took, she produced by herself photographic processing or developing in the darkroom.
She has spent a decade photographing flowers. Through some years of difficulty, she was refined and changed, and she got this project and titled it as Refining Fire and Undescribed Variation. It depicts a story of life, going through up and down, but you’ll be polished.
All of the exhibited works she took in medium-sized camera and hand-made developed and enlarged in traditional dark room, unlike digital prints. Without the enthusiasm, patience and sustainability, it is impossible to make a good works to display details.
The exhibition starts public on-view from 1st to 30th of June. We’d like to welcome you to attend the opening with Artist at 14:30, on Saturday, 1st of June at 1839 Contemporary Gallery.
