1839 Contemporary Gallery was established in 2011 till today has been approaching to the 10th anniversary. Since the first decade, we have invited famous overseas photographers to present their artworks. Now, starting in the 2nd decade, we will work with oversea professional photography galleries to showcase their artworks and the photographers here.
First start to invite the gallery 176 who is a photography gallery was established by Yusuke Tomonaga in Toyonaka-shi, OSAKA, JAPAN in 2005.
The gallery was reopened on September 17, 2016 (September 17 is the first day of shooting Daguerreotype in Japan). It is managed by Tomonaga, the former owner and 6 photographers. In the exhibition, you will see their work representing the culture and life of western Tokyo.
