In the realm of landscape photography, Dorfsman’s works attempt a fresh form of presentation, where he inserts artificial objects that ingeniously integrate with real scenery, creating perplexing visual tension and artistic illusions. … Dr. I-Chien Chiu/Curator of 1839 Contemporary Gallery
1839 Contemporary Gallery and sello de agua ART join together to curate the Mexican Artist Alex Dorfsman solo exhibition. This exhibition is a view through Dorfsman’s own lens of surreal reality. Alex exposes ambiguous moments and views that exist only within the crossroads of the optical contradictions upon which he stumbles.
In this show, Dorfsman once again toes the line between what we call reality and artificial or made by the human hand. Dorfsman operates within the defining moments of perception and strategically searches for moments of surreal contradictions within the landscape. His optical game plays equally within the macrocosmic world of the landscape on a large scale, and the replications of these macrocosms on the microcosmic scale.
The gallery holds the art talk events about Mexico and Latin America Art at 3:00 o’clock afternoon on every Saturdays (9/13, 9/20, 9/27, 10/4, 10/11, 10/18) during the exhibition.

Moment after moment
Night after day
Season after season
Year after year
Time passes by in a spiral between all the opposite entities of the universe
The opposite lights of night and ay are deposited
One after another on a single fixed file as traces of time
Taishi Hirokawa was born in 1950 in Kanagawa. Lives and works in Tokyo. Timescapes – infitite tune project, he makes two exposures on each film, one a daylight image of a rock-strewn landscape, the other a time exposure of the midnight stars swirling overhead. The result is a surreal image that combines two immense themes.
Fascinated and awe-stricken by the giant rocks sculpted on the earth’s surface by everlasting time photographer made his way to the desert. Hirokawa has captured these “memories of time” through the day and the moonless night. Melting away-beyond space and time and the boundary between life and death. To become a distance star or grain of sand.

Group f.64 was an association organized in 1932 by a group of eleven photographers: Ansel Adams, Imogen Cunningham, Edward Weston, John Paul Edwards, Sonya Noskowiak, Henry Swift, Willard Van Dyke, Consuelo Kanaga, Alma Lavenson, Preston Holder and Brett Weston. Four of Group f.64 works have been assembled for a retrospective exhibition at 1839 Contemporary Gallery.
The term f/64 refers to the smallest aperture setting on a large format film camera (i.e. 4”x5” 0r 8”x10”). It’s very valuable information to encourage people to more understand the 175-years of photography history since 1839. This is a big initiation into photography education in Taiwan. In 1919 ad era of United States photographer Arthur Mole and his friend John Thomas, famous for his series of “living photographs” made during World War I. For these photographs, Mole and his partner, John Thomas, used tens of thousands of soldiers, reservists, and nurses – and arranged them in various patriotic symbols. From the 80 foot high viewing tower (2450 cm) where Artist stood, to figure out the exact number of soldiers needed for each pattern to create these wonderful works of art.
People from Heilongjiang China are an expansive, optimistic, generous, brave, and dares characteristic. Photographer Zhang Bojin spent seven years has involved wandering the streets and taking pictures of people as they pass by. People are the key element in his creation of work. People are characterized as vanished figure, and degraded as a medium of viewing. It presents well of the real situation of being a Chinese.
